Visitors are enjoying St Aidan’s, the North York Moors and surrounding area:

We have had a great week and have enjoyed our accommodation. We have visited Eden Camp, Castle Howard, Beamish, the Great Yorkshire Show, Whitby, and had beautiful drives across the moors – and ended our week by visiting Ryedale Folk Museum, not to be missed.

Our favourite places to eat are the Moors Inn at Appleton-le-Moors and the Fox and Hounds at Sinnington. You do need to book. Hope that you enjoy your stay as much as we have. By way it is lovely to hear the cockerel in the morning - and the sheep.

What a wonderful place. Our five year old granddaughter loved it so much she couldn't stop talking about it. Comfy beds too!

We spent a great week visiting family and seeing the sights. The Ryedale Folk Museum was a highlight. We even had fantastic weather. Lots of walks with our dogs in the surrounding countryside.

An absolute delight– St Aidan's exceeded all our expectations! We enjoyed the Rievaulx - Old Byland walk and also walked the moors for a day – both gorgeous scenery albeit completely different. Had an excellent meal at Geppetto's in Helmsley using the local (very reliable) taxi service to get down there and return.

Enjoyed the friendly local wildlife and chuckled at the paranoid pigeon nesting in the cart. We shall definitely be making a return visit. Thank you for making our stay so comfortable.

PS next time we come we’ll be bringing a van to take that very comfy bed home!

We have had a fab week at St Aidan's and we are sad to be leaving!

During our stay we enjoyed a walk into Helmsley and stopped for cake and a drink at the Brewery. We visited Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay.(Take a look in Berties of Bay). There is so much to do in the area we will definitely be back.

PS Wilf the dog says sorry for chasing the chickens XX
June 2016

We had the most beautiful week here  – sunshine and blue skies and warm  –  just glorious.

Visited ruined Cistercian abbeys x 3, castles, Nunnington Hall,  Rievaulx Terrace, walked on the moors where we saw curlews and hares, and walked along beautiful wooded valleys. The dogs loved it and so did we. We also ate very well indeed at the Black Swan, Oldstead, and the Pheasant and the Star Inn at Harome.

The church is very comfortable– many thanks for all the welcoming goodies.

We have had a lovely week, although the weather has been challenging. We walked from Lastingham across the moors to Ana Cross and back, which was beautiful. We found details of the walk in the black folder. We also did the Rievaulx Abbey and Old Byland walk, and Kilburn White Horse and Byland Abbey walk, both found in 'Day Walks in the North York Moors’ on the book shelf.

Today we gave up on walking, felt defeated by the strong winds, and went to Ripon Races instead. Inspired! Best small racecourse in northern England. Great fun, and we backed (guessed!) one winner.

The chapel is lovely and cosy, we had everything we could possibly need. We sat in the evenings on the sofas with the outer doors open and the inner doors closed. The lighting combinations are great, and I love the multicoloured light in the corner, and the fairy lights. Thank you for everything.

We had a lovely relaxing stay in this wonderful place. Amazing renovation - and love the ceiling. Teddy wasn't too sure about the garden visitors at first - such a town dog but by our last day it was like he was country born and bred!

We couldn't ask for anything else – the kitchen is so well-equipped and a pint of milk most welcome after a long drive. Thank you for saving this place.

We've had an absolutely AMAZING stay in this beautiful holiday home. Thank you so much for the lovely wine –  what a great way to start our relaxing stay. We love Helmsley – the people are all so lovely and helpful. We found a great pub nearby in Sutton-on-the-Forest that had an amazing 20 oz steak cooked to perfection!

We hope to be back soon!

Fantastic. Gorgeous place to stay… and it’s not haunted!!! Woooo - no, as you say, it’s really not :) Lovely, perfect, I would love to come again soon.

We had a magnificent stay in this beautiful church in Carlton! Weather was perfect, first real summer temperatures and very sunny. Rievaulx was very impressive and Helmsley was cosy and friendly. The chapel is beautiful and all the animals in the surroundings made us feel really in nature. What a great experience we won't ever forget. Thanks to St Aidan!

We hope to come back one-day.

Amazing stay at the Chapel, weather wasn't perfect but Helmsley and the chapel had everything we needed to keep us entertained – including an amazingly-equipped kitchen!

Will definitely be returning.

We had a really enjoyable and relaxing stay here in St Aidan’s  – what a wonderful, quirky and eccentric place –  we absolutely loved it – but wish we'd remembered the earplugs! In the Collection of Useful Things drawer in the kitchen, for next time :)

The weather has been glorious and the scenery is breathtaking. We enjoyed our "fix" of the seaside in Whitby too.

Would love to come again soon.
